Imad Wasim reacts after Peshawar Zalmi thrash Karachi Kings

Karachi Kings’ captain Imad Wasim has opened up after his side suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Peshawar Zalmi on Tuesday.

Kings, who are the defending champions, registered their lowest ever total, 108/9, in HBL PSL history while their bowlers were thrashed to all parts of the ground by Afghan opener Hazratullah Zazai, who scored the joint-fastest fifty in the tournament’s history of just 17 balls.

“It’s a mixture of good bowling and poor batting, they bowled really well. The thing is, they outclassed us in batting and bowling. They utilised the powerplay, we lost 3-4 wickets,” said Imad after the match. “If we’d got Zazai early we could have [done better].”

Imad was still confident about qualifying for the playoffs despite losing three matches in a row.

“We’re still well placed and there are positives for us. Nothing to lose now, we have to win both games to stay in the tournament. We have to give ourselves a chance in both batting and bowling. We’ll sit together tomorrow and come back hard, if we think we can’t do it, then there’s no point,” he concluded.

Kings play their next match on Thursday against arch-rivals Lahore Qalandars.
